The additives and admixtures in concrete concrete
The additives and admixtures in concrete is an admixture that can greatly reduce the amount of mixing water under the condition of the same slump of concrete. The plasticizer is a kind of concrete admixture that can reduce water consumption under the condition of keeping the slump of concrete basically unchanged. Mostly anionic surfactants, lignosulfonate, naphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde polymers. After adding the concrete mixture, it has a dispersive effect on cement particles, can improve its workability, reduce water consumption per unit and improve the fluidity of concrete mixture; Or reduce the amount of cement per unit, save cement. The additives and admixtures in concrete in the concrete slump is basically the same, can make mixing water consumption reduce the admixture by more than 15%.

Concrete construction "offsets around one half" of carbonate emissions from cement industry says IPCC
According to the latest climate report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), about half of the carbonate emitted in cement production is reabsorbed by the material when used in construction and infrastructure. According to an overlooked section of the report released earlier this month ahead of the Cop26 climate conference, the "cement sink" absorbs about 200 million tons of carbon a year. "Direct co2 emissions from carbonates in cement production account for about 4% of total fossil CO2 emissions," says the full IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.
The IPCC report presents the latest scientific understanding of climate change, stating for the first time that the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is "unequivocally caused by human activity". "Unless emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are significantly reduced in the coming decades, global warming will exceed 1.5C and 2c in the 21st century," the report states.
The growth of cement direct co2 emissions slowed in the 2010s
Direct carbon dioxide emissions from carbonates in cement production, which account for about 4 percent of total fossil carbon dioxide emissions, grew 5.8 percent annually in the first decade of this century and slowed to 2.4 percent annually in the 2010s, according to the report. Large amounts of carbon dioxide are produced during cement production, where limestone is crushed and burned with mature material and clinker is used as a binder. The extra emissions are caused by large amounts of fossil fuels, which are often used to heat cement kilns. The IPCC data do not take these factors into account. Combustion separates limestone, a calcium carbonate material, into its calcium and carbon components. Calcium, a key component of cement, is retained during the calcination process, but carbon combines with oxygen to form carbon dioxide, which escapes. "Cement infrastructure absorbing carbon dioxide (carbonization) could offset about half of the current carbonate emissions from cement production." However, carbonates account for only 40-60 percent of total emissions from cement production, so carbonization will reabsorb about a quarter of emissions.
