Boron Carbide has the highest hardness of any material. It is unaffected by hot hydrogen Fluoride, nor by nitric Acid. Insoluble in water or acid, but soluble in molten sodium alkali.

B4C powder MF: B4C

B4C powder CAS No: 12069-32-8

B4C powder EINECS No: 235-111-5

B4C powder Appearance: Grey black powder

B4C powder particle size: Can customized to suit your needs.

Boron Carbide Properties:
The formula of Boron Carbide is B4C. Boron carbide crystals are hexagonal. Boron carburide density is 2.52g/cm3. Boron carbide has a melting point of 2450

Boron carburide hardness (B4C): Mohs scale 9.3; microhardness 55006700kg/mm2. Second only to hardest material Diamond and cubic boron-nitride.

Boron carbide exhibits low density, high strength and high temperature stability, as well as good chemical stability. Boron carbide is widely used as a ceramic reinforcement phase, in particular in lightweight armor and reactor neutron absorbers.

ceramic boron carbide has a lower cost and is more easily manufactured than diamond or cubic boron. It is also used more often because it is cheaper. It is used as a substitute for diamonds, which are expensive, in certain areas.

B4C powder is high-purity, has small particle sizes, and high specific surfaces. B4C, on the other hand, is an ultra-rigid material, with a hardness of 9.46. It also has microhardnesses between 56-6200Kg/mm2, a proportion of 252 g/cm3, a melting point at 2,250 degrees Celsius.
Chemical properties: resistant to strong acids, alkalis, and high and low temperature. It can also absorb neutrons and emit gamma-rays, which are harmful to human health.

Boron carbide is a very stable substance in acidic solutions. It is also stable in alkali or concentrated acidic aqueous solution. Boron carbide remains stable in an atmosphere below 800degC. The boron oxidation product is lost to the gas phase and leads to its instabilities and oxidation into carbon dioxide and Boron trioxide.

How is Boron Carbide produced
Boron Carbide (B4C) Boride Powder is created by reducing carbon with boron at high temperature in an electric furnace. The powdered black is then pressed at temperatures above 2,000degC. Its melting temperature is about 2,350degC.

Boron Carbide B4C Powder Uses:

Fine and Advanced Abrasive Materials
It is primarily used in grinding processes for hard materials such a gems or ceramics. Also, it can be used to drill and polish bearings and other cemented carbides.
Industrial ceramics
The following products are made from boron-carbide powder as a novel material: sandblasting nodes, seal rings, nozzles bearings plungers mud pumps pestles rocket launchers ceramic coatings warships helicopters etc. It has high melting points, high hardness and high elastic modulus. It also has good wear resistance and self-lubricating qualities.
Materials for shielding and controlling the nuclear industry
The Boron Carbide material is a highly regarded material that has been recommended internationally as a shielding and nuclear reactor control material.
Bulletproof armor
Especially due to its strength and low specific gravity, lightweight bulletproof armour is ideal for protecting aircraft, vehicles, vessels and even human bodies.
Improve mechanical part life
Mix boron-carbide powder with metals to create metal-based powder. After a special treatment, original mechanical components are more resistant to wear.
Special absorber provides energy
The solid fuel rocket uses a powdered form of boron carbide (also known as "black-gold") as its power source.
Chemical additives
Because of its high chemical potential and stable chemical properties, it is widely used for the production other boron containing materials such as zirconium and titanium boride.
Advanced refractories
It is widely used to make steel stoves, kiln furniture, and other refractory products.

Storage condition of Boron Carbide powder B4C:
B4C Powder dispersion and use effects will be affected by damp reunion. Therefore, boron carbide B4C must be packed in vacuum and kept in a dry and cool room. The boron carbide powder should not be exposed to stress.

Shipping & Packing of Boron Carbide (B4C) powder:
The amount of B4C powder we use will determine the type of packaging.
Boron carbide powder packaging: vacuum packed, 100g,500g or 1kg/bag; 25kg/barrel.
Boron carbide B4C Powder Shipping: Could be shipped by sea, air, or by express, once payment has been received.
